A source device (102) has a wireless communication interface. Through the wireless communication interface (252), the source device establishes a communication session over a wireless medium with a sink device (104) and determines a maximum capacity of a buffer (210) at the sink device for receipt of audio samples to be transmitted in packets from the source device to the sink device in an asynchronous connectionless link (107) over the wireless medium. Scheduling access to the wireless medium by the wireless communication interface for transmission of audio samples on the link takes into account the maximum capacity of the buffer.
