<p>A gear pump housing comprises a first arcuate gear bore 18, and an inlet port 36. A first cutback 48a extends between the first arcuate gear bore and the inlet port. The housing may comprise a second arcuate gear bore 20, the gear bores receiving first and second gears 22, 24 respectively. A second cutback 48b may extend between the second arcuate gear bore and the inlet port. The pump may be driven by a motor. Bearing plates may be provided between each of the gears and the housing. The bearing plates may each comprise a side fill indentation adjacent to the inlet port and spaced from the cutbacks. The cutbacks may each be narrower than the inlet port, and centred thereon. An inlet cusp 44 may be present where first and second circular walls of the arcuate gear bores meet, and an inlet pad comprising a planar surface may extend into the cusp, and through which the inlet port may extend.</p> |
