The method involves irradiating particles (5) with light, and detecting light (6) scattered by the particles. An electric signal in a set of digital channels is amplified, digitized and detected as a measured size-dependent frequency distribution corresponding to intensity representing particle size. An appearance of a peak in the measured size-dependent frequency distribution is monitored and a report is provided if the peak appears in the digital channels other than a standard channel of the peak based on measurement settings, where the peak corresponds to a Mie peak. An independent claim is also included for a device for analyzing small particles in gas. |
