1,061,967. Discharging liquids by gaseous pressure. R. H. ABPLANALP. Dec. 2, 1963 [Jan. 9, 1963], No. 47458/63. Heading F1R. A pressurized dispenser comprises an outer container 1, for a liquid or gaseous propellant or a mixture of a propellant and a reagent, e.g. a hydrocarbon and water, and an inner container 20' for an active ingredient, e.g. liquid starch, a piston 22, exposed to the propellant pressure, being slidable within container 20 and on a dip tube 19 such that on opening a valve assembly 6, 14, the material in container 20 passes through one or more valve housing apertures 16 and mixes with a stream of fluid passing through the valve housing from dip tube 19. The valve assembly is spring-loaded and comprises a main valve 6 and a slide valve 14 opened together by depression of a button 8. Valve 6 has a port 11 co-operating with a sealing disc 5, and valve 14 has a sealing ring 15 co-operating with apertures 16. Passages 17 are provided between valves 6 and 14 for the fluid from the outer container 1. Examples of propellants are hydrocarbons, nitrogen and carbon dioxide, which may occupy the outer container 1 alone or together with water, a solvent or a catalyst for the material in the inner container 20. Valve 14 may be omitted to permit intermingling of the materials when the main valve is closed. |
