The invention relates to a protective cap for a pressurised fluid cylinder valve, comprising a body having one end intended to be mounted on a cylinder and another end including a manual gripping member (1) mounted such that it can rotate in relation to the rest of the body of the cap (5) about an axis (A) of rotation, in order to allow the rolling of a cylinder provided with such a cap while the cylinder is being maintained vertical manually using the gripping member (1). The cap (5) is characterised in that it includes a locking member (4) that can move selectively between: a first position in which the locking member mechanically locks the translation movement of the gripping member (1) along the axis (A) of rotation in relation to the body of the cap (4), in order to prevent the gripping member (1) from being separated physically from the body of the cap (5); and a second position in which the locking member (4) does not lock the translation movement of the gripping member (1) along the axis (A) of rotation in relation to the body of the cap (5), thereby allowing the gripping member (1) to be physically separated from the body of the cap (5).
