摘要 A communication device or method comprises: a signal receiver, suitable for receiving signals from a plurality of directions, where the device is configured to determine the direction of a second communication device from an adaptive beamforming communication with the second device and steering a transmitter and/or receiver beam in accordance with the said direction and using positional data associate this one or both devices to determine the time period for repeating the above beam steering process. The positional data may be received from an accelerometer or a satellite or land-based triangulation system or a signal Doppler shift analysis. The said time period may be determined in dependence on threshold levels associated with movement of one and/or both of the devices in a predetermined time period or the quality of the communication link or the communication protocol being used. The quality of the communication link may be measured using bit error rate and/or packet error rate and/or received signal strength data and may involve anticipated changes arising in the near future. The beam steering may be adjusted to avoid interfering signals from other sources. The device may interact with a plurality of mobile devices.
