A re-sealable container 1 comprises a base 3 and at least one removable lid 13, 15 wherein the container 1 is made substantially of cartonboard and has a uniform cross-section along its length, wherein the cross-section is substantially oval 5. An internal collar member may extend around at least an opening of the container 1 body, that opening defined by the removal of the lid 13, 15. The internal collar may comprise a seam, which does not overlap a seam of the container 1 body 15, and may be adhesively sealed to the internal wall of the container 1. The face of the lid and/or the base may be recessed into the body of the container, and a face of the lid and/or base may be coplanar with the opening of the container. The face of the lid and the base may be oval-shaped and surrounded by a perimeter flange 7 comprising a plurality of tabs 11, each of which may be trapezoidal, and may be separated from an adjacent tab by a split 9 in the circumference to the container. A method of manufacturing a container having a substantially oval cross-section is also disclosed, comprising: rolling at least one cartonboard blank around a mandrel and sealing the tube along a seam. The hollow tube is then clamped to produce a substantially oval cross-section and an oval lid is inserted through the tube and sealed in place, a product inserted and a base inserted and sealed in place. |
