<p>Scale containing Cu is removed from metallic surfaces by applying an acidic solvent containing an inhibitor, an alkenylthiorurea, which prevents deposition of metallic Cu on the surfaces, the alkenyl group containg 2 - 6 carbon atoms, and a surfactant. Solvents described may contain 2-70% by weight of H2SO4, 0.1-1% by weight of an amine inhibitor in a mixture of water and water miscible alcohol containing a surfactant and 2-40 parts by weight for each part by weight of the Cu in the scale, of 1-butenyl-2 thiourea, 1-allyl-2-thiourea or a mixture thereof. Co-Mo stell was treated for 6 hours at 150 DEG F.</p> |
