Common drive unit for multiple high frequency energy generator heads

A high frequency energy generator system 1 comprises: a plurality of high frequency energy generator heads 3 to 8, each head including a respective magnetron; a common drive unit 2 for producing power for the plurality of magnetrons; and a flexible connector arrangement 9 simultaneously connecting each of the plurality of heads 3 to 8 to the common drive unit 2 to supply power to the magnetrons, at least one of the heads being located remote from the common drive unit 2. The heater and electromagnet supply 29 and the cooling 30 system may take a separate route. Alternatively all the requirements for each head may be supplied within respective umbilicals 37. A circuit diagram of the of the power supply is disclosed (fig 5 not shown). The heads may be positioned on an industrial processing line at different levels and spacing remote from the common drive unit. In Fi 6 (not shown) the input drive module 18 Fig 1 may be substituted by an active front end 81 and the common drive unit may be split between two remote housings 82a, 82b connected by an extended common DC link 83.
