PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control system and a control device for a vehicle, which can properly suppress shocks.SOLUTION: The vehicle control system 1 includes: an internal combustion engine 4 for generating driving force acting on a driving wheel 3 of a vehicle 2; an engagement device 10 capable of switching between an engaged state where a rotating member 10a on the side of the internal combustion engine 4 and a rotating member 10b on the side of the driving wheel 3 are engaged with each other so that the driving force can be transmitted, and a disengaged state; and the control device 8 for a vehicle that is configured, when the acceleration request operation is conducted in a state of braking the engine where an acceleration request operation is released and the supply of fuel to a combustion chamber 45 of the internal combustion engine 4 is cut, to control the engagement device 10 to release the engagement if the opening degree of an intake passage 44 to the combustion chamber 45 according to the operation amount of the acceleration request operation becomes smaller than that in the state of braking the engine, and to control the internal combustion engine 4 to maintain the opening degree of the intake passage more than the opening degree in the state of braking the engine. |
