A film label 2 shaped into a cylindrical shape by a mandrel 23 is held by a picker 41 at an outer periphery of a lower end part thereof and is then fitted around a barrel 3A of a container 3. In a fitting section E where the picker 41 fits the film label 2 around the container 3, the amount of vertical movement of the picker 41 can be changed depending on whether the picker 41 fits a full label FL around the container 3 or fits a half label HL around the container 3. Therefore, a single film label fitting apparatus 1 suffices for fitting both the full label FL and the half label HL around containers 3 having the same outer diameter. The film label fitting apparatus 1 provided is highly versatile.
