A control module 400 for mounting on a fluid cooled heat sink surface 253 of a stator 252 includes, the power module 500 comprising two power substrate 510 mounting inverters for stator winding switching, a control board 520 controlling the inverter operation and a housing 550 with a first side for mounting to the heat sink surface, the housing including apertures 511 for allowing copper base plates of the power substrates 510 to be in contract with the heat sink, the control board being mounted in the housing on an opposite side of the power module to the first side of the housing and an elastomer is located over the power device and the control device for providing an electrical insulation barrier over the switches on the power device and electrical components on the control device. Insert modules 560 surround the inverters and separate the control device 520 from the power module. Apertured posts 610 though which the winding leads 501pass from the stator are surrounded by part electrical steel toroids 530 which are recessed level with the bottom of the housing, Hall sensors on the power module being received in the missing toroid sections. |
