An insulating board comprises a panel of foamed or beaded plastics material having a supplementary layer of cellulosic material having a thickness in the range 0À02 inch to 0À045 inch laminated to at least one surface thereof. As described the panel is of foamed polystyrene or polyurethane and the cellulosic material is paper, paperboard, paper felt, or chipboard. The supplementary layer(s) are joined to the plastics panel by adhesive or by placing the layer(s) on a liquid or tacky surface of the plastics panel, e.g. by placing liquid foam between two outer sheets and allowing setting. The plastics material may be treated to be non-inflammable and/or the boards may be treated with a fire-resistant plaster or plastics paint. When only one supplementary layer of cellulosic material is present in the board a layer of textile material may be applied to the other face of the panel.</p> |
