The present invention relates to a refrigerator vehicle using solar energy and a control method thereof and, more specifically, to a truck which transfers frozen products and refrigerated products which utilizes the power of an engine of the vehicle as a power source for cooling the inside of a cargo box where the products are loaded; and includes a separate compressor which is driven by using solar energy as an additional power source via a PV module, thereby reducing energy consumption for cooling the inside of the cargo box by properly utilizing the power source of the power of an engine and the power source of solar energy according to operation settings.
