A method of retrieving data from a database management system. The method comprises providing a first data storage structure for storing data entries for each of a plurality of devices within a hierarchical network, each data entry comprising at least a device identifier and a parameter value; and in response to receiving a request for data in respect of a group of devices located within a specified area of the hierarchical network, generating a second storage structure for storing and mapping device identifiers with full path information identifying the path of the devices within said group of devices; accessing and retrieving the requested data from the first data storage structure for said group of devices; and generating a report in response to the received request, that contains the information retrieved from the first data storage structure, sorted according to the full path information provided in the second data storage structure. |
