A radial cord carcass pneumatic tyre has a breaker comprising at least one heterogeneous ply constituted by a layer of parallel cords embedded between a layer of softer rubber having a Shore A hardness of under 70 and a layer of harder rubber having a Shore A hardness of over 72. Two or more such plies may be placed one on another with any sequence of the rubber layers, and in a modification a ply of cords embedded in a homogeneous layer of rubber may be placed between a pair of heterogeneous plies. |
