The present invention relates to a method for allocating a ranging channel in a wireless communication system for supporting machine-to-machine communications and a base station for the same. More specifically, the method for allocating a ranging channel in a wireless communication system comprises a step of transmitting a message including a connection identifier (CID) exclusively allocated to a device for supporting machine-to-machine communications; a step of allocating an exclusive ranging area for transmitting a ranging request message to the device for supporting machine-to-machine communications; and a step of transmitting a uplink map (UL-MAP) message including information on the exclusive CID and the exclusive ranging area to the device for supporting machine-to-machine communications.
