Provides is a method for controlling a compression device so as to control a discharging step of the compression device having an expandable bladder that can be pressurized to put a pressure on a part of a target human body. The method comprises the steps of: transferring a pressurized fluid from a pressurized fluid supply source to a first expandable bladder disposed around the part on the target human body; and discharging the pressurized fluid from the first expandable bladder by opening a first valve. The method further comprises a step of monitoring the fluid pressure in the first expandable bladder during the discharge of the first expandable bladder. Based on the fluid pressure that is monitored at least partially, the first valve is selectively closed and is selectively re-opened so that the fluid pressure in the first expandable bladder can be controlled in order to be maintained in a desired residual pressure range.
