The invention relates to a method for smoothing and fixing a material web (3) placed in a material loop, and a hold-down device for performing said method. A holding plate (1) oscillating by means of a drive apparatus (2) is used. In order to obtain uniform and gentle smoothing and fixing, the drive device is made up of a crank drive (7) connected to the holding plate such that the holding plate can be guided on a circumferential curved path having a motion component in a placement direction of the material web. |
