<p>Provided are a method for washing adhesive cells so as to control cell death caused by a proteolytic treatment that is performed in order to exfoliate the adhesive cells from a culturing container and by a post-treatment for the cells, a cell washing liquid used for the method, a method for producing a transplantation cell suspension using the cell washing liquid, and a kit that contains the cell washing liquid. The cell washing liquid is produced by adding trehalose, a derivative thereof, or a salt thereof into a physiological solution so that the cell washing liquid contains the trehalose, derivative thereof, or salt thereof as an active ingredient. By means of the cell washing liquid, the adhesive cells are washed before being exfoliated from the culturing container through the proteolytic treatment so that cell death (including apoptosis) caused by the proteolytic treatment can be controlled or inhibited. The concentration of the trehalose applied to the cell washing liquid is recommended to be maintained at a level that can control or inhibit cell death (including apoptosis) caused by the proteolytic treatment so as to be maintained generally at 0.1-20 (w/v)%, preferably at 1-15 (w/v)%, more preferably at 1.0-7.0 (w/v)%, and still more preferably at 3-5.0 (w/v)%.
