SEGMENT CLEANING APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREOF

Provided are a method for cleaning a segment and a host device which performs the method. The host device connected to a storage device comprises a write-back cache which is used in data write for the storage device; a cache management module which manages the write-back cache; and a file system module which checks whether or not a live-block included in a victim segment is loaded in the write-back cache, which loads the live-block on the write-back cache by reading the live-block from the storage device in a state that the live-block is not loaded in the write-back cache, and requests the setting of a dirty flag for the live-block to the cache management module.
