The present invention provides a disc brake apparatus that is capable of improving response in braking (parking brake) by an electric motor. In the disc brake apparatus, a screw member (31) and a direct acting member (32), which propel a piston (29) by an electric actuator (33), are provided in caliper (24). The screw member (31) and the direct acting member (32) are configured to maintain the piston (29) by using a friction force. When the parking brake is released, a parking brake control device (19) detects a liquid pressure (P) within the caliper (24). Here, if the liquid pressure (P) is above a predetermined value (P11), the parking brake control device (19) operates the electric actuator (33) to determine that a propulsion force generated by the electric actuator (33) is released after a predetermined time (T17) elapses. If the liquid pressure (P) is below the predetermined value (P11), the parking brake control device (19) determines that the propulsion force generated by the electric actuator (33) is released according to a current value (IM) of the electric actuator (33). |
