The device has intermediate elements designed as intermediate plates (12) extending along length and width of roofing elements and a profile. The plates include two lateral ribs or corrugations, which are overlapped with adjacent ribs or corrugations of the roofing elements. A central rib (24) comprises a portion, which protrudes from the lateral ribs and supports solar panels (10). Securing units e.g. screws (31, 33, 41, 43), secure the solar panels on the plates, which are arranged along sides of the panels and parallel to top and/or bottom edges of a roof. An independent claim is also included for a solar panel assembly.
