PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of performing an afterimage characteristic evaluation without the need to separately prepare an evaluation device and jig, an image forming apparatus, and an afterimage characteristic value detection method.SOLUTION: An image reading device receives, with a CCD image sensor, reflection light of an LED light source irradiating a document to read an image from the document, and includes: a light source control unit that controls turning on and off of the LED light source in synchronization with a shift signal for shifting electrical charge temporarily stored in a light receiving unit of the CCD image sensor; and an afterimage calculation processing unit that calculates an afterimage characteristic value of the CCD image sensor on the basis of the reflection light of the LED light source turned on and off by the light source control unit. |
