Each phase of a four-phase voltage of twice the frequency of a four-phase input voltage V 1 , V 2 , V 3 , V 4 is produced by selecting the appropriate peaks a, b, c, d of the input phases and combining them. The peaks are selected by diodes biased by batteries of voltage B, and the output obtained is approximately sinusoidal. Two transformers each with fourteen secondary windings, fourteen diodes and two bias batteries may be used (Fig. 3, not shown) or, if efficiency is unimportant, resistance networks and simpler transformers may be used (Figs. 4 to 9, not shown). The apparatus may supply voltages required by the typewriter typing signs defined by co-ordinates as in Specification 964,109.</p> |
