The invention proposes a light-emitting means (100). The light-emitting means (100) comprises a bulb (2) comprising an at least partially transparent material; a lamp base (4) for fastening the light-emitting means to a lampholder and for supplying electrical energy; at least one light-emitting element (8) arranged in the bulb (2), wherein the light-emitting element (8) is arranged in a separation plane (16) which divides a space into a first half-space (10) facing away from the lamp base (4) and a second half-space (12) facing the lamp base (4) and which defines a preferred direction (18), which extends perpendicular to the separation plane (16) towards the first half-space (10), wherein the light-emitting element (8) is designed to emit light predominantly into the first half-space (10) during operation; and at least one deflecting element (14, 24), which is arranged in the first half-space (10) and is designed to at least partially deflect light which is emitted by the light-emitting element (8) and impinges on the deflecting element (14, 24) in such a way that at least some of the deflected light passes through the bulb (2) and is emitted into the second half-space (12).
