The method involves passing medium (14) into an inner space (12) of a vehicle (10) and/or space unit bound by walls of a component of the vehicle. The medium withdrawn from the space unit and the inner space of the vehicle is closed based upon leakage of the vehicle and the component of the vehicle. Aerosol is provided into the inner space and/or the space unit. The medium emerging from the inner space unit and/or the space unit is detected by a detection unit i.e. camera (28), and an optical unit. An independent claim is also included for a calibration set-up for checking tightness of an interior of a vehicle and/or a space.
