In this sheet-shaped extensible organic base material, a mechano- luminescent section which comprises both a mechanoluminescent body and a resin material is formed in a region in an extensible polymer matrix in an integrated state, and the surface shape of the mechanoluminescent section or the projected shape thereof as obtained by taking the surface of the extensible organic base material as a projecting plane is solid, linear or annular. The mechanoluminescent section may be formed in a region in the matrix in an integrated state either in a state such that the mechano- luminescent section is exposed on at least one surface of the organic base material or in a state such that the section is not exposed thereon.
