PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining a light source lifetime long by suppressing power consumption.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: color material attachment means for attaching a color material on a recording medium; medium carrying means for carrying a recording medium; color material fixing means for irradiating light for fixing the color material to the recording medium, arranged downstream in the carrying direction of the recording medium with respect to the color material attachment means; carrying amount detection means for detecting a carrying amount of the recording medium carried by the medium carrying means; and a control part for controlling irradiation of the color material fixing means on the basis of at least one between a first carrying amount of the recording medium corresponding to a distance in the carrying direction between the color material attachment means and the color fixing means and a second carrying amount of the recording medium corresponding to width in the carrying direction of a color material attachment area formed by the color material attachment means detected by the carrying amount detection means. |
