In order to provide an image-capturing device for improving recognition capabilities and reducing variation of each individual recognition capability, there is provided an image-capturing device having a first image-capturing element for receiving light passed through a first optical element and outputting an image processed as a reference image having a brightness value according to the intensity of the light; a second image-capturing element for receiving light passed through a second optical element and outputting an image processed as a reference image having a brightness value according to the strength of the light; a distance calculation means for calculating the distance image on the basis of the reference image and a comparison image; and a recognition means for recognizing an object on the basis of the distance image calculated using the distance calculation means, the optical element or the image-capturing element fulfilling at least one of the following conditions: the transmissivity of the first optical element is higher than that of the second optical element; the distortion of the first optical element is lower than that of the second optical element; the sensitivity characteristic of the first image-capturing element is greater than that of the second image-capturing element; and the noise of the first image-capturing element is less than that of the second image-capturing element.
