The present invention provides for pharmaceutical compositions comprising an inactivated Mycobacyterium spp., formulated for intranasal, mucosal, or intrapulmonary delivery to a host, and methods of preparing thereof. Methods of vaccinating a mammal against tuberculosis by administering the composition to a mammal are also provided.
