PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce height dimension of a holder for holding optical elements, such as a collimator lens.SOLUTION: An optical element holder has an approximately tabular optical element which has a long-side direction and a short-side direction. The optical element holder includes a holding frame holding a peripheral part of the optical element, and a first wall formed in one side of a short-side direction of the optical element holder. The holding frame has a missing part lacking a part of in hoop direction from the one side of the short-side direction of the optical element holder, and holds the optical element in a state where the short-side direction of the optical element is slightly inclined in the short-side direction of the optical element holder while a part of outer circumference of the optical element contacts the first wall so that the optical element does not project from the missing part.
