PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve suppression of blackening and devitrification of a discharge lamp as well as its longer service life.SOLUTION: The light source device 1 includes: a discharge lamp 500 with a pair of electrodes 610, 710 and a drive unit 200. The drive unit 200 includes a supply section 30 for supplying an electrode-to-electrode current to a pair of electrodes 610, 710, and a control section 33. The control section 33 controls the supply section 30 so that an electrode-to-electrode current is in a first state as a positive electrode, a second state as a negative electrode and a third state which is provided in the course of a state transition between the first state and the second state and sets the magnitude of the electrode-to-electrode current to be constant, in low-frequency driving. |
