WOUND CLOSURE DEVICE INCLUDING DIRECT-DRIVEN NEEDLE Abstract A suturing device (100) includes a housing (110), a rod (120), a ferrule assembly 5 (140), and a needle (170). The housing (110) defines a guide lumen (154) extending longitudinally therethrough. The rod (120) is engaged with the housing (110) and extends distally therefrom. The ferrule assembly (140) is disposed at a distal end (122) of the rod (120) and is configured to releasably retain a ferrule (160) therein. The ferrule (160) is adapted to retain of a portion of a suture therein. The needle (170) is configured for to translation through the guide lumen defined within the housing (110). A distal end of the needle (170) is configured to engage the ferrule (160) within the ferrule assembly (140) for removal of the ferrule (160) from the ferrule assembly (140). |
