PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical power monitor in which failure of a laser diode module can be detected, excessive insertion loss is not generated, risk or failure due to bending of an optical fiber can be suppressed, and the amount of laser light outputted from the laser diode module can be monitored.SOLUTION: An optical power monitor 50 comprises a photodetector 52 disposed on the side face of a connection 33 of an optical fiber 22 for outputting pumping light, as an optical fiber for outputting laser light of a laser diode module 20, and an optical instrument utilizing the pumping light as the laser light outputted from the laser diode module 20. The amount of pumping light outputted from the laser diode module 20 is measured by measuring the amount of the pumping light leaking from the side face of the connection 33 by means of the photodetector 52. |
