The invention comprises metal complex compounds of the formula <FORM:1067299/C4-C5/1> wherein A represents a devalent radical which completes the portion of the molecule <FORM:1067299/C4-C5/2> to from an aromtaic or heterocyclic ring which may be substituted, e.g. by arylazo groups, Z represents a halogen atom or a radical having the formula -X-R in which X is the bridging group -O-, -S- or -NHCO- and R is a C1-C4 alkyl radical or an aryl radical which may be substituted by alkyl groups, halogen atoms and/or a nitro group, and Me represents a metal of Group IIa or IIb of the Periodic Table or Cu, Pb, Mu, Fe, Ni or Co. They may be obtained by heating a solution or suspension of the appropriately substituted bisoxazole of the formula <FORM:1067299/C4-C5/3> in a polar solvent or a mixture of polar solvents with non-polar solvents or in water, with a solution of the metal-supplying compound of the said type in the same solvent or in water or aqueous ammonia at temperatures of 50 DEG to 200 DEG C.; or by heating a suspension of the above bisoxazole in water with one of the metal-supplying agents, if desired under pressure. By using different metal ions mixed metal complexes may be obtained. Examples are given for the production of the compounds. They may be used as pigments in printing inks which also contain aluminium hydroxide and linseed oil varnish, distempers and lacquers. They may be used for pigmenting synthetic. semi-synthetic or natural macromolecular substances such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyesters, phenoplasts, and aminoplasts (see Division C3).ALSO:Compounds of the formula <FORM:1067299/C2/1> wherein A represents a divalent radical which completes the portion of the molecule <FORM:1067299/C2/2> to form an aromatic or heterocyclic ring which may be substituted, Z represents a halogen atom or a radical having the formula -X-R in which X is the bridging group -O-, -S- or -NHCO- and R is a C1-C4 alkyl radical or an aryl radical which may bear alkyl groups, halogen atoms and/or a nitro group; are obtained by heating a 2,5-diaminobenzoquinone containing the Z radicals in 3,6-position in an organic solvent with about twice the molar amount of an aldehyde of the formula <FORM:1067299/C2/3> at temperatures of 130 DEG to 200 DEG C. Examples are given for the production of these compounds. They are useful as intermediates in the preparation of pigments (see Division C4).ALSO:Synthetic, semisynthetic or natural macromolecular substances, such as polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polyethylene, polyesters, phenoplasts, aminoplasts, polyurethane fibres, and rubber are pigmented with a metal complex of the formula <FORM:1067299/C3/1> wherein A represents a divalent radical which completes the portion of the molecule <FORM:1067299/C3/2> to form an aromatic or heterocyclic ring which may be substituted, Z represents a halogen atom or a radical of the formula -XR in which X is the bridging group -O-, -S- or -NHCO- and R is a C1-C4 alkyl radical or an aryl radical which may bear alkyl groups, halogen atoms and/or a nitro group, and Me represents a metal of Group IIa or IIb of the Periodic Table or Cu, Pb, Mn, Fe, Ni or Co (see Division C2). Examples are given in which (a) a mixture of polyvinyl chloride, dibutyl phthalate and titanium dioxide is coloured, and (b) pigments are ground with a stoving lacquer consisting of coconut alkyd resin, urea-formaldehyde resin, xylene and n-butanol.
|
