In one aspect of the present invention a virus countermeasure process is executed without decreasing the performance of a computer. Data is exchanged with a storage device (16) via a storage device controller (24). A virus detection storage device (14) executes a virus scan in a duplicate storage device (36) so as to avoid influencing the performance related to the inputting/outputting of data to/from storage device (16). Write information which is output from the controller (24) is duplicated by a duplication unit (34) and recorded in the duplicate storage device (36) via a controller (32). A virus detection unit (30) executes a virus scan asynchronously with respect to business processes. The writing process for the duplicated write information is performed with a higher priority than the process of reading information from the duplicate storage device (36) during a virus scan.
