PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrazide chelate complex compound that is superior in both solubility in a coating solvent and light resistance when used as a dye for formation of a recording layer of an optical recording medium, and is capable of high-speed optical recording using a blue laser beam.SOLUTION: A hydrazide chelate complex compound is composed of a hydrazide ligand shown by following compounds as a representative example, and a transition metal cation.
