PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate having excellent durability of a polarizer even in a high temperature and high humidity environment and hardly causing warpage or distortion of a liquid crystal panel and display unevenness resulting therefrom depending on a use environment, when the polarizing plate is assembled in a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: The polarizing plate includes a transparent protective film applied on only one surface of a polarizer via an adhesive layer. The transparent protective film has a thickness of 5 μm or more and 60 μm or less and comprises at least one resin and a compound (A) having at least one hydrogen-forming hydrogen-donating group and having a ratio of (molecular weight)/(number of aromatic rings) of 190 or less.
