PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline storage battery using a negative electrode including a hydrogen storage alloy containing Mg, which is capable of increasing both of discharge characteristics at a low temperature and storage characteristics at a high temperature and is applicable to a wide temperature range.SOLUTION: The alkaline storage battery includes: a positive electrode including nickel; a negative electrode including a hydrogen storage alloy capable of electrochemically storing and discharging hydrogen; a separator being interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode; and an alkaline electrolyte. The hydrogen storage alloy includes La, Mg, Ni, Co, Al, and element M. The element M is at least one kind selected from a group of Y and Sn. The amount of the element M is 0.45 mass% or less of the hydrogen storage alloy. The alkaline electrolyte contains: potassium hydroxide of 0.08-40.2 mass%; sodium hydroxide of 9.7-30.4 mass%; and lithium hydroxide of 0.53 mass% or less. |
