Provided are a storage element capable of adjusting the magnetic characteristics of a magnetization fixed layer, and a storage device and a magnetic head equipped with the storage element. The storage element has a layer structure including an underlayer, a storage layer in which the magnetization direction is changed in response to information, a magnetization fixed layer which is formed above the underlayer and has magnetization orthogonal to the film surface as the reference of the information stored in the storage layer, and an intermediate layer which is provided between the storage layer and the magnetization fixed layer and is made of a nonmagnetic material. The underlayer has a laminate structure constituted by ruthenium and a nonmagnetic material having a face-centered cubic lattice, and the ruthenium is formed at the part adjacent to the magnetization fixed layer.
