PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing film which exhibits high absorbance and a high degree of polarization for light in a long wavelength region.SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a polarizing film is provided, where a PVA-based polymer film having a crystal long period of 14.5 to 16.0 nm in water is put through processes of dyeing, uniaxial stretching, dye fixing, and drying. When the PVA-based polymer film is formed using a film forming apparatus having a plurality of drying rolls and heat treatment rolls, the film is dried such that Tin an equation (I) is between 60 and 75.
