PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal capable of pre-assembling a related component such as a static side seal member or the like, a baffle sleeve and a damper in a surely controlled state in a plant, a service center or the like and capable of reducing assembly steps in site installation.SOLUTION: A mechanical seal includes: a baffle sleeve 17 with an approximately L-shaped section which is fixed on the machine outer side of a seal cover to introduce quenching fluid to a slide surface between a seal ring and a mating ring. In the baffle sleeve, a flange part 21 and a cylindrical part 22 are divided from each other, the flange part is divided into a machine inner side flange part 21-1 and a machine outer side flange part 21-2, a separation preventing member 25 is held between the machine inner side flange part and the machine outer side flange part, a tongue part 26 to be engaged with a recess 29 or hole pierced in the cylindrical part is extended on the inner-diameter side of a held state of the separation preventing member, and the flange part and the cylindrical part are inseparably fixed through the separation preventing member by fastening of the flange part. |
