<p>The method of the present invention involves directly coating coal with a heavy distillate without using solvent oil, thus saving energy and reforming low-rank coal into high-rank coal having a high calorific value and minimizing water reabsorption and spontaneous combustion in an economically advantageous manner. The present invention provides a method for reforming coal, comprising: a step of grinding coal; a step of uniformly mixing the ground coal and palm residue; a dry-stabilization step of dissolving the palm residue mixed with the coal so as to coat the surface of the coal and simultaneously drying to remove the moisture from the coal; a step of cooling the coal coated with the palm residue in the dry-stabilization step; and a step of molding the cooled coal.</p>
