<p>Provided are a method and apparatus for accessing a user equipment. The method comprises: a core network element acquires capability information or version information of a user equipment (UE), wherein the capability information of the UE is the capability information which only supports registering in a packet switching (PS) domain or the capability information which supports an extension timer; and the core network element determines that the user equipment is not allowed to register in a circuit switching (CS) domain according to the capability information or the version information and user data information of the UE. Restricting the access of a user equipment in the CS domain reasonably reduces the signalling interaction between the user equipment and an MSC, and improves the network utilization rate simultaneously.</p>
