An installation element 101 used in installation of ground mounted articles of street furniture (Fig. 1: 103) for example street lights, bollards, electrical/telecommunications cabinets and equipment enclosures, provides a physical interface between the street furniture and the ground and functions as a template to establish the footprint of the street furniture upon a support base and to securely locate a utility item such as cabling, ducts or an earth rod at an appropriate point of entry. The underside 201 of the installation element is located upon a support base (Fig. 4: 401), and the upper side 202 comprises a gasket-receiving region 203 containing apertures for receiving a rubber gasket 209 upon which the base edges of the street furniture can be mounted. The gasket-receiving region comprises a base surface 204 from which an inner side wall 205 and an outer side wall 206 protrude upwards. A central region 207 includes apertures 210 to allow a utility item to pass through the installation element. The installation element is positioned at an installation site, after which it may be removed and a support base hole excavated, so that a utility item location can be established prior to formation of the support base. Subsequently, the installation element is sited on the support base to receive the utility items. |
