A plurality of devices (4, 5, 6, 7), such as electric vehicles, is adapted to consume, store and/or supply energy. A method comprises the steps of transmitting local power cost functions (cd) of a group of the devices (4, 5, 6, 7) and/or power usage profiles of the devices (4, 5, 6, 7) for a predetermined time slot to an assigned aggregation node device (8, 9), and at the aggregation node device (8, 9), generating aggregated data as a function of the received local power cost functions (cd) and/or power usage profiles, transmitting the aggregated data to a central processing device (10), and at the central processing device (10), optimizing a global cost function for allocating power to the devices (4, 5, 6, 7) as a function of the aggregated data. The method allows efficient management of the fluctuations of power supply and demand in a power grid, particularly where distributed energy sources (such as solar and wind) are used. |
