PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of machining a tapered hole by a slot electrical discharge machine capable of accurately machining, in a short time, the tapered hole the hole diameter of which is increased from the inlet toward the outlet of the machined hole, and to provide a slot electrical discharge machine used for the method. SOLUTION: In this slot electrical discharge machine, an electrode holder 27 is rotatably installed, and an electrode is fed to a workpiece while rotating. An electrode guide device 41 having an electrode guide for swingably supporting the bottom end of the electrode just above the workpiece and an eccentric guide means 40 for providing a circular motion about the electrode guide to the electrode in a horizontal plane above the electrode guide are liftably provided to the slot electrical discharge machine. Since the electrode is fed to the workpiece while providing the circular motion about the electrode guide to the electrode in the horizontal plane by the eccentric guide means, the tapered hole whose hole diameter is increased from the inlet toward the outlet of the machined hole can be machined.
