<p>A cover for a card reader slot, adapted for use in a gas meter or the like, comprises a cover member 10 sized to cover said card reader slot and a door element 13. The cover member includes an aperture 12 to allow passage of a debit or credit card or the like through the aperture 12 and into the card reader slot. The cover is securable to the meter and the aperture 12 is closable by the door element 13. The cover member 10 is preferably secured to the gas meter by means of an adhesive, which adhesive can be a pressure sensitive adhesive. Mounting of the door element 13 to the cover member 10 can be achieved by means of a hinge which can extend along a longer edge of the door element 13 to provide added stability. The door element 13 can be biased to the closed position. The door element 13 may have a recess 16 that engages with a lip 15 around the aperture 12 when the door element is in the closed position. The cover prevents water, dust and dirt from entering the card reader slot.</p> |
