A covering apparatus (14, Figure 1) for a vehicle having a retractable roof and an opening through which a mechanism for the retractable roof can extend and retract, the apparatus configured to move between a covering position (Figure 1) in which at least a portion of the opening is covered by the covering apparatus (14) and a stowed position. The covering apparatus14 includes a primary flap 16 and a secondary flap 18 each having an outer surface (24a, 24b, Figure 1). The primary 16 and secondary 18 flaps are hinged together and are moveable between an open position (Figure 1) and a folded position. In the open position the primary 16 and secondary 18 flaps together cover at least a portion of said opening in the vehicle. When the retractable roof is deployed to cover the vehicle cabin the primary 16 and secondary 18 flaps are folded and stowed for allowing the retractable roof to be deployed with the outer surface (24b) of the secondary flap 18 folded towards the outer surface (24a) of the primary flap 16. |
